The Next Generation of MacBooks
Apple announced the MacBook Air today. They also are skipping SSD drives and integrating the memory right on the main board. The Air comes in 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB variants. I’m looking forward to the new MacBook Pros without DVD drives and faster storage. Interesting to see how things go.
Snow Leopard contains new icons for the new MacBook Pros, like my new 13” MacBook Pro.
New MacBook
I bought a 13” MacBook Pro yesterday. The White Macbook I’ve been using has been a great machine and it will find a new owner tomorrow. I just got such a good deal from Apple that it was hard to pass by. I basically get the new machine for free (+ tax). Here is how it works:
Taking advantage of my student discount along with Apple’s Back to School campaign for a free iPod Touch and a free printer (after a ridiculously easy online rebate) I pretty much break even after selling my old machine on Ebay. At this rate I just may forgo the Apple Care ($250 for 2 more years) and just buy a new machine every summer. It is a little bit of a hassle to sell each unit but worth it when finances are tight.
